Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers - Atlantic

The announcement of Atlantic Outstanding Young Farmers for 2011 will be made at the Atlantic OYF Annual Banquet.  Details as follows:

Friday, March 11th, 2011
The Futures Inn, Moncton, New Brunswick
Reception:  6:00 p.m.
Banquet:    7:00 p.m.
Slide Presentations & Awards: 8:00 p.m.

We are pleased to inform you that Joseph & Karen Heukshorst, Caper Farms, Milford N.S. and Geoff and Jennifer Bishop, Bishop Farms Ltd. Annapolis Royal, NS, have been nominated and will be competing to represent Atlantic Canada this year.  Each couple has completed a lengthy nomination form and will appear before a panel of judges before the announcement on March 11th. The winner will then go on to compete at the National level in Brandon, Manitoba. The Atlantic OYF Program is proudly presented by Farm Credit Canada and the two Charter level sponsors are Green Diamond Equipment Ltd. and the Atlantic Farm Mechanization Show. Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers’ program is an annual competition to recognize farmers that exemplify excellence in their profession and promote the tremendous contribution of agriculture. Open to participants 18 to 39 years of age, making the majority of income from on-farm sources, participants are selected from seven regions across Canada, with two national winners chosen each year. The program is sponsored nationally by CIBC, John Deere, Bayer CropScience and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, and supported nationally by AdFarm and Canadian Farm Business Management Council.

Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers for 2011 will be chosen at the National Event, November 14 – 20, 2011 in Brandon, Manitoba.
